Christmas

Hi.

In the midst of a record-breaking storm, my Mom and I had a warm and toasty Christmas.

Sometimes I feel like a hypocrite for celebrating Christmas – I don't believe in God, Jesus, virgins giving birth, etc – but I love the happiness and food that is associated with the holiday. So I will live another day to contradict myself.

New York is fucking cold, but it is beautiful in its own way.

At the office, we received a bunch of food, cards, flowers, and gifts for the holidays. The most interesting was this customized chocolate bar (made with Ghiradelli!) from The Farber Center. I totally ate the shit out of that chocolate. Not literally. Chocolate bars don't poop.

Giulie and I made a gingerbread house. Please ignore that box behind our festive abode.

I'm so happy my mom came to me this year. Last year was a little lonely, and I didn't see this year being any better. But supermom came to the rescue! Too bad Old Man Winter has delayed her flight from Monday until Friday...

For New Year's Eve, I'm going to a party in Brooklyn. Ticket purchased, hopes raised, wallet emptied.

Yay.

Also, I'm in love with Mumford and Sons
.
"So tell me now where was my fault, in loving you with my whole heart."

"I gave you all."

"It was not your fault but mine, and it was your heart on the line. I really fucked it up this time, didn't I my dear."

"You are not alone in this, as brothers we will stand and we'll hold your hand."

*______________*

As many are aware, I have a slight obsession with female rappers. Cue Nicki Minaj, queen of the silicone ass implants.

I'm a little obsessed with her song "Save Me." Haters, please refer to the lyrics of "Muny":
"Bitches want my old shit, buy my old mix tape."

It's a little annoying that she is somehow given credit for supporting her gay fans – there's an interview where she pauses for what seems like minutes, searching for an answer to a question on homophobia. Whatever. At least she's trying to own it, and she does encourage her gay fans to be brave. Now if we can just get her to not feature songs with homophobic and chauvinistically fueled lyrics...

Word.

Anyway, it's back to the grind for me.
Peace, happiness, and Starbucks to all.

Refill time...

Oopdate.

I figured there was no better way to mark the revitalization of my blog than to post this video of a rat in the subway.

Ali inspired me to come back to this – her blog is so cute, and it's such an insight into her life.

I want mine to be that too.

I've been put in a weird place lately where I don't know exactly (or even vaguely) what I want.

Earlier today at the gym, I saw coverage of a story about a gang that violently beat three men for being gay. One was sodomized with a plunger handle, another with a small baseball bat. Coverage here.

I don't have much to say about this, I just want to acknowledge that this happened. In the wake of such widespread news stories about homophobia and anti-gay violence, this happened. This isn't a gay issue, it's an issue of humanity. And, for the record, this makes me fucking sick.

October 4 marked the one year anniversary of my move to New York City. Cue the fireworks – not. I have met some incredible people here though, and I'll be sad to leave them.

After paying $145/month for an Equinox membership for nearly a year, I've decided to let it lapse. I'm not going to renew my membership after this month so prepare for a fat Tymon.
